Dr. Nishi Kumar enjoys working with her patients, collaboratively, to help them achieve their health and wellness goals. She believes in prevention being better than the cure, but in instances when prevention is not possible, strives to ensure the cure is not difficult to bear for each of her patients. Dr. Kumar enjoys all aspects and branches of medicine, finding them all intellectually rewarding.

Dr. Kumar’s completed her education in India, beginning with St. Xavier’s School in Bokaro, and then Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Bhagalpur. During her time in school, she received Honors in Preventative and Social Medicine, and was one of the top students in both her undergraduate and graduate programs. She completed her residency at the Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati, Ohio from 1999-2002, and received her Board Certification in Internal Medicine in 2002.

Prior to joining Healthcare Associates of Texas, Dr. Kumar worked in a traditional internal medicine practice, combining outpatient and inpatient work in Greensburg, Pennsylvania for 2 years, and then an additional 12 years in Vernon, Connecticut. She has experience in diagnosing and treating acute as well as chronic diseases seen in an internal medicine practice, including women’s health.

Dr. Kumar has been married to her childhood sweetheart for over 20 years, and they have two boys that keep them vigorous and honest. She loves to read a wide variety of literature and science articles, and enjoys classical music, jazz, and blues.
