OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY

The Women's Health Center at Healthcare Associates is dedicated to ensuring a healthier future for all women by providing a full scope of services from annual exams to complex medical and surgical care of women from puberty to post menopause.

Dr. Darshna Chandrasekhara is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is highly experienced in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her compassion and expertise in treating women's health issues goes far beyond the ordinary.

OBSTETRICS

Obstetrics is the branch of medicine that deals with the care and treatment of women either contemplating or suspect they are pregnant and especially for those who are pregnant. Our main areas of concentration include:

Contact us as soon as you suspect that you are pregnant so we can confirm conception and begin your ongoing comprehensive care. Please refrain from the use of cigarettes, alcohol and medications, either prescribed or over-the-counter, until your first appointment with one of our board-certified Obstetricians.

At your first appointment we will obtain a full medical history, including any pre-dispositions or hereditary factors affecting you and your baby during and after delivery. A complete physical examination will be obtained. A custom care plan will be provided so that you can be informed on various aspects of your pregnancy including subsequent appointments, exercise, labor and delivery, breast feeding, postpartum care and birth control after your baby is born.

Additional services such as full lab capabilities, state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging and even a pharmacy are available within our practice to ensure your comfort and convenience during this very special time.

GYNECOLOGY

Gynecology refers to the surgical specialty dealing with prevention and treatment of diseases of the female reproductive system (uterus, vagina, and ovaries). Our services include:

• Annual Physicals
• Well-Woman Exams
• HPV Vaccine (Gardasil)
• Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Screening and Treatment
• Irregular Bleeding
• Vaginal Irritations and Infections
• Contraceptive Technologies
• Midlife Wellness

Annual well-woman examinations are recommended for those women who are sexually active or over the age of 18. More frequent exams are appropriate for women who plan to become pregnant soon or have a family history of sexual health problems.

An immediate gynecological exam is necessary if a woman experiences any of the following symptoms:

• Detection of a lump or other changes of the breast.
• Symptoms or exposure to a sexually transmitted disease (STD).
• Before starting hormone therapy
• Bleeding outside of the normal menstrual period.

PROCEDURES

• Colposcopy - Evaluation of abnormal pap smear
• Edometrial Ablation - Control of irregular bleeding
• Cryotherapy - Application of extreme cold to destroy diseased tissue
